South Bay Paddle, Hermosa Beach pier
The South Bay Paddle, a 15 mile race, is a qualifier for the Catalina Classic 32 Mile Open Ocean Paddleboard Race. The race takes place Saturday, June 8 and begins at the southside of Hermosa Beach Pier, runs south parallel to the beach to Palos Verdes, then heads west to the R10 buoy, and straight back to Hermosa Pier. A three mile race for beginning paddlers, follows the start of the long race. Check in 6 a.m. Start time: 7:30 a.m. Register at SouthBayBoardriders.org
