Woodys, station wagons, bitchin’ old boards, and vintage surf paraphernalia were swapped, shopped, and shown off at Dive N’ Surf last Saturday for the Longboard Collector’s Club hosted Vintage Surfboard Swap Meet.
“It was a great event,” said local longboard ace Mike Siordia. “I’m launching my own fin company, Stateside Fins, and it was nice to check out the different fins for inspiration.”
Notable classic boards included, a Greg Noll Miki Dora “Da Cat model,” signed by Noll and Dora, a Mike Purpus Hollow Wave Surfboard, a few pre-war kookboxes, and pristine Jacobs’ Donald Takayama and Lance Carson models.
“Hap Jacobs came by mid morning and was treated like a rock star,” Dive n’ Surf ‘s Saul Zaragoza said. “People were lined-up to have Hap sign their boards.”
The event was packed as surf aficionados drooled over pieces of surf history.
”We’re looking forward to coming here again because Dive N’ Surf has played such an essential role in California surfing history.” said Vintage Longboard Collector Club president Steve Collins.
