Nearly a hundred people gathered on the FataSea Yachts in Marina Del Rey Sunday to honor Kathleen Terry for her 14 years of dedication to Leadership Manhattan Beach as program facilitator.

Terry, who left her post earlier this year when she was appointed Manhattan Beach Rotary Club’s new president, said she “never thought it would be for 14 years,” but the people she met in the LMB community grounded in the role each year.

“Each and every person that went through the program has left their imprint on me and will not ever be forgotten,” Terry said. “I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved with such an outstanding program.”

Terry is a recipient of the annual Leadership Manhattan Beach Paul Allman award, which recognizes extraordinary leaders in the community. The first recipient of this award was Russ Lesser, president of Body Glove and co-founder of LMB, some 21 years ago.

1st annual MB fashion week show

The South Bay Runway Foundation presents its inaugural Manhattan Beach Fashion Show Thursday evening at Shade Hotel, which will showcase fall, winter and holiday looks from four local clothing boutiques. Proceeds will benefit Families Uniting Families, an organization dedicated to supporting foster children across L.A and Orange Counties. Tickets (including two cocktails and hor d’oeuvres) are $100, available at eventbrite.com (search Manhattan Beach Fashion Show).

 Soroptimist art exhibition

Soroptimist International of Manhattan Beach is hosting an exhibition called “Looking at the World Through the Eyes of a Woman,” emphasizing the identity, creativity and work of female artists in Turkey. The exhibit–open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Manhattan Beach Community Church–will provide insight into the efforts being made to preserve centuries-old art techniques in Turkey. Some of these classical methods will be demonstrated in interactive workshops, where the artists will create new work with visitors. Some works and gift items will be available for purchase.

Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. Proceeds will benefit Kosev Association, a Turkish nonprofit promoting a safe environment for professional and amateur artists, and Degisim Liderleri Dernegi (DLD), a Turkish nonprofit developing leadership skills in female college students.
