Spotlight on culture: “Celebrating Our Similarities” Armenian Heritage on Display

The Community Room crowd.

On April 28, in the Peninsula Center Library’s Community Room, friends and neighbors gathered to enjoy Armenian art, books, clothing, dance, food and music in a festive array of activities hosted by Executive Director Merlin David, and his team at the Peninsula Friends of the Library. Armenian dance demonstrations were taught by Michelle Papayans while homemade sweets and food samples were prepared by Malaga Cove Ranch Market with help from Sheila Papayans and the Armenian Community Center and Armenian Education Foundation. Local government leaders Ara Mihranian, RPV City Manager, and Frank V. Zerunyan, past Mayor and current Rolling Hills Estates council member, talked about their Armenian heritage to a sold-out crowd.
