The Redondo Unified School Board held a workshop July 18 to discuss the potential to put a bond measure before voters, to fund enhanced security, update facilities and shore up technology for students.

On Tuesday night, at the board’s regular meeting,  it voted to hire Isom Advisors (Tustin, Calif.) for $50,000 to survey community interest.

One particular enhanced security item as part of a bond measure would be to add buzz-in mechanisms to each school site’s front office. As of now, only Redondo Union High School has such a device.

Once survey results come in, expected in late fall, the board will hold another workshop to discuss whether to proceed, and what items a bond would include.

Also on the agenda for the July 18 workshop, the board finished a board governance handbook, completing an item from an earlier work session.

“Creating norms so that we can work effectively on behalf of the community,” said Superintendent Nicole Wesley.

The board previously underwent a training on the subject. ER
