The Redondo Beach Police Department is requesting the public’s help in tracking down the suspect of a felony hit-and-run traffic collision that killed a dog and injured a pedestrian.

On Dec. 7, around 7 a.m., police say that a 2008-’12 model Nissan Altima struck a woman and her dog in the crosswalk as it made a turn at the intersection of Slauson Lane and Grant Avenue. It then left the scene.

The dog, Kira, was killed. Her owner suffered minor injuries.

Thanks to nearby surveillance camera footage, police were able to determine that the car has distinctive black trim around its windows, rather than standard chrome window trim, and dark tinted windows.

Police ask that members of the public with any information regarding the car or the incident to contact Traffic Investigator William Turner at 310-318-0621.
