More than 3,500 affected by power outage in Manhattan Beach

More than 3,500 Edison customers in Manhattan Beach are without power, according to Southern California Edison.

The power outage is affecting homes west of Sepulveda Boulevard around 6th and 8th Street. About 100 of the outages are due to a fire that occurred at 9 a.m., and are expected to be repaired by 3 p.m.

The cause of the remaining 3,550 outages is unknown, according to Edison. Repair crews have been notified and the power is expected to return at 11 a.m.

Jose Garibaldi, kitchen manager of Back Home in Lahaina, stood outside the Hawaiian restaurant on Sepulveda on Thursday morning, which was supposed to open at 11 a.m. “I was prepping (in the kitchen), next thing I know, it was just out,” he said, adding that the restaurant has to delay its opening for the day.
