A coyote was seen in South Hermosa early Tuesday morning.
A resident observed the canid near the Green Belt along Second Street about 1:30 a.m., according to a news release from the City of Hermosa Beach. Police officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the animal.
Cops in neighboring Manhattan Beach reported that a coyote was spotted near the intersection of 10th and John streets Monday evening. It is not clear if it was the same animal.
Coyotes were previously reported in the area last year. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife has said that animals are adapting to urban sprawl, and may be scavenging trash left out by residents.
Officials urge residents not to approach or feed coyotes. If spotted, residents should call the police or Animal Control.
