A police bomb squad responded to a reported bomb believed to possibly be located in a white Dodge Ram truck in the parking lot outside Living Spaces Furniture in Redondo Beach.
Redondo Beach Police arrived at 9 p.m. after receiving a report from military police and detained two active duty military personnel believed to be associated with the suspected bomb. The two men were arrested without incident just outside the truck and charged with possessing explosive ordnance. The bomb squad responding is from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department. A bomb robot has been deployed.
“It’s a possible active bomb in a white truck,” said Capt. Jeff Hink for the Redondo Beach Police Department.
Military police are en route to assist in the investigation. The two men are being held in the RBPD jail.
“We will work with the military to determine if this is a larger thing,” Hink said.
The store is located at 1519 Hawthorne Blvd., just south of the South Bay Galleria. Police have evacuated the nearby Target, Sprouts, and Nordstrom Rack stores, as well as all the parking lots. The Galleria is largely closed and has not been evacuated. More details to follow.
