Young Driver
At 7:00 a.m. on Oct. 20 officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs. house traffic collision in the 1100 Blk. of Mackay Ln. It was reported that the collision had ruptured a gas line. When officers and the fire department responded the gas line was turned off without incident. During the investigation of the collision a female adult told the offiicers at the scene that she was driving the vehicle at the time of collision and that she was the only occupant of the vehcile. When witnessess were interviewed it was estalsihed that the actual driver at the time of the collision was a 14 year old boy. The female was arrested for providing false information to officers and obstructing their investigation. The boy who was driving was identified and a complaint was submitted for prosecution. The Traffic Unit continues to investigate the incident
Troubled Teenagers
At 12:15 p.m. on Oct. 20 officers responded to the call of suspicious juveniles in the 3500 Blk of Johnston Ave. According to police, officers subsequently located them and during their investigation found them to be in possession of numerous pieces of stolen property. All of the subjects were arrested without incident for being in possession of stolen property. During the investigation officers learned that some of the other property that they juveniles possessed was stolen in an earlier burglary in the 2200 Blk. of Ruhland Ave.
Fake Bomb
At 3:19 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 20, officers responded to 100 Fisherman’s Wharf on the Pier regarding a person threatening an employee with a bomb if he was not given food. According to a press release, officers responded to the business and made contact with suspect who was holding a brown paper bag. Officers gave the subject repeated instruction to set the bag down but he refused to follow this direction. Officer were able to phyiscially overtake the subject and remove the bag from his grasp. The bag was found to contain a bottle that was made to look like a molotov cocktail, but was not a threat as an explosive device. The subject was arrested without further incident.
Unsolved Robbery
At 3:55 a.m. on Oct. 22 officers responded to the report of a robbery in the area of Knob Hill Ave. and Catalina Ave. According to a release, the victim related that he was walking southbound on the Esplanade when he was approached by a subject who engaged him in some small talk. A few moments later the victim saw two subjects get out of a dark colored Ford Explorer that was parked across the street. All three subjects surrounded him and demanded his belongings. When he refused the first subject that had engaged him in small talk began punching him in the face. When the victim began yelling all of the subjects ran back to their vehicle and fled the area. Responding officers scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and released. The incident is under investigation.
