BeachLife Festival
The popular music festival returns to North Harbor Drive in Redondo Beach Friday, May 5 through Sunday, May 7. The lineup includes The Black Keys, Pixies and Modest Mouse on Friday, Gwen Stefani and Sublime with Rome on Saturday and The Black Crowes and John Fogerty performing the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival on Sunday. Teen policing program

New art exhibit
“Michael Davis: Perception” debuts May 5 at the Palos Verdes Art Center and will be on display through July 8. The artwork includes works intended to be viewed with 3D glasses, which the PVAC will provide. The center is located at 5504 Crestridge Road, Rancho Palos Verdes. New art exhibit
The Pastel Society of Southern California’s 14th annual gallery exhibition showcasing members’ artworks is on display at the Promenade on the Peninsula through May 21. The exhibition, located in in Suite 117, features 87 artworks, including landscapes, seascapes, still life, florals, animals and portraits. Most are for sale. High school reunion
An all-day Miraleste High School all-class reunion is set for July 29. There will be alumni games, photo booths, live music, campus tours and a homecoming dance at Miraleste Intermediate School, formerly the high school, in Rancho Palos Verdes. David Singleton, the former Bishop Montgomery High basketball star who helped lead UCLA into the NCAA tournament, will be the featured speaker at this week’s South Bay Athletic Club luncheon. Letter carriers food drive
May 13 marks the 31st anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food drive. As always, letter carriers will be collecting non-perishable food donations along their routes. Donations go to local food pantries. Residents should leave their non-perishable food donations in a bag by their mailbox for their letter carriers to retrieve.
Hermosa Five-O Open House

The 61st annual Armed Forces Day Parade & Celebration in Torrance is set for May 19-21. The schedule of events include a 5K at 8 a.m. on Armed Forces Day, May 20. The parade will also be held on May 20. It begins at 1:30 p.m. at Crenshaw Boulevard and travels west on Torrance Boulevard to Madrona Avenue.
