The Black Eyed Peas from AYSO Region 34 (South Redondo) are the 2010-2011 AYSO Area 1D Girls Under 10 Champions. They competed against five other AYSO Regions that included Westchester, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Beach, North Redondo and Hawthorne in a 3-week tournament and advance to play in the AYSO Section 1 Playoffs in Riverside on February 26-27. Division winners then advance to the AYSO California State Games in Garden Grove on March 12. Volleyball

Registration and volunteer positions now open for the United States youth Volleyball League (USYVL) Spring Season. The 8-week league in El Segundo at Washington Park and Hermosa Beach at South Park will run from April to June and is also looking for volunteer coaches, site directors and clinicians (volleyball instructors). Running

Registration is open for the 33rd annual Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K which will be held Sunday, Feb. 6 beginning at 7 a.m. with the popular costume judging contest. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Baby Buggy 10K at 8:15 a.m. and the 10K at 8:30 a.m. Custom awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age category. All participants receive a custom race shirt and two free beers are available in the Asahi Beer Garden for those over 21 years of age (while supplies last). A Health Expo presented by Michelob Ultra will be held at the Seaside Lagoon Saturday Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on race day from 6 a.m. to noon. Fitness

GI Joe Winter Boot Camp runs through March 25 for ages 8 and up. Monday, Wednesday and Friday sessions are available at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., 9 a.m. or 6 p.m. at the south side of the Manhattan Beach Pier. AdventurePlex, 1701 Marine Ave., Manhattan Beach is offering its Open Rock Wall and Ropes Course on Saturdays from 12-3 p.m. (Rock Wall is also open Sundays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.). Whether a single child, the whole family, or just a group of friends (Ages 5 and up for rock wall, 8 and up for ropes course), the course provides challenges of solving problems and overcoming obstacles. Groups of seven will start every hour and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete the courses. Advance registration is recommended. Cost is $8-$20 depending on activities. AdventurePlex will be holding a Ski Week AdventureCamp Monday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. Open for children ages 4-12, campers will enjoy fitness gaming, rock climbing, ropes course (ages 8 and up), arts and crafts, Adventure Room play, cooperative games on the Sports Court and more. Football

Registration is underway for the Beach Cities Sports Youth Flag Football Spring Season which will begin in March with Friday night, Saturday or Sunday games. The league consists of four divisions for players ages 6-13. Most games are played at Mira Costa’s Waller Stadium, pitting kids of similar ages in competitive, fast-paced 8-on-8 games.
