STATE OF THE CITY
The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau hosts the annual Hermosa Beach State of the City Address with Hermosa Beach Mayor Peter Tucker presenting. A light buffet of appetizers and a no-host bar will be set at 6:30 p.m., with a presentation at 7:15 p.m., located at The Beach House, 1300 The Strand, Hermosa Beach (Pacific Room). The event is free and the public is invited to attend. Parking is available by valet at the Beach House or in the garage adjacent at 13th Street. Palos Verdes Art Center presents artist John Elgin Woolf: Master of Hollywood Regency. The exhibition runs March 20-May 29. FISH FRY
The Knights of Columbus hosts its annual Lenten Fish Fry’s, which includes an all-you-can-eat salad bar, baked or fried Icelandic Cod, fries or baked potatoes, dinner rolls, dessert, and drinks (coffee, ice tea and punch) included. New this year: If you wish to skip the fish and potatoes we are offering the salad bar only all-you-can eat for $7. Fish fry is from 5 – 8 p.m. at The Knights of Columbus Hall, 214 Ave. I, Redondo Beach. For adults, the cost is $11 per person, and for children, $5. WALKING TOUR
Hermosa Beach is hosting “General Plan Walking Tours,” showing land use and transportation options for neighborhood and commercial districts during this general plan update event. The goal is to visit specific neighborhoods and commercial districts within Hermosa Beach while reviewing proposed land use changes to be implemented over the next thirty years. Participants will provide input on what they would like to see happen in each district and how effective proposed changes are in supporting personal and community values. MITZVAH DAY
Temple Menorah hosts its 11th Annual Michael Mitzvah Day – Taking Care of Those in Need. The annual day of service brings together volunteers ranging from children to seniors and helps community members from shelters and local neighborhoods most in need of compassion and support. The event provides participants with a hot lunch, and dinner to go, free clothing and toiletries, interactive games with prizes, and live music from 12:30 – 2 p.m. There will be meal service, clothing, and games, from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a blood drive, book donations, shelter/rescue pet project, and art projects. MENTOR TRAINING WORKSHOP
The Walk With Sally mentor training workshop is a 6-hour interactive training aimed at providing tools, information, policies and procedures in becoming an effective mentor. In addition, information and training about preventing and/or identifying child abuse, complying with emergency safety protocol as well as driver safety are very important aspects of the Mentor Training. Completion of the training is required before being matched with a child. Training is from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at 840 Apollo Street, Suite 324, El Segundo.
