CEC is coming

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. a select committee of the California Energy Commission will host a public site visit, environmental scoping meeting, and informational hearing regarding energy company AES’ application to repower its Harbor Dr. plant. The meeting will be held at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, and members of the public are encouraged to attend in order to obtain information as well as voice their perspectives with respect to the proposed project. There will also be an opportunity for members of the public to join the committee on a bus tour of the proposed project site. Terranea shuttle

The Riviera Village Business Improvement District Board is excited to announce the launch of a free, daily shuttle between the Riviera Village and Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Shuttles run daily at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.

AYSO opening day

Over 1,400 families from the South Bay attended the AYSO region 34 opening day, which marks the start of the soccer season, on Saturday, Sept. 21. Whole Foods sponsored a root beer garden and Dominos Pizza was also an event supporter.

 

TED talks

TEDxRedondoBeach is presenting an event on Friday, Sept. 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. entitled ‘Reimagining Our Cities,’ a series of lectures focused around creative and inspiring architecture, buildings, and spaces. The evening includes food, drink, TED talks, and audience participation. The event will be held at Ignited, 2221 Park Place in El Segundo. For more information, visit www.TEDxRedondoBeach.com.

Kids cooking 

Kids between the ages of five and 12 who have a close friend or family member with cancer can learn how to prepare simple meals for free on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at 109 W.
