About Town in Manhattan Beach: Week of March 27

 Multiple Sclerosis fundraiser

ms fundraiser
In 2011, Manhattan Beach resident Lauren Oates was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, which robbed her of vision in her right eye. She has since regained it with drugs that cost $3,000 a month through the help of National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, which will foot her bill for the rest of her life. Hoping to show their support to the MS Foundation, Oates’ family and friends are putting on a fundraiser at Baja Sharkeez in Hermosa Beach on Tuesday, April 1, which will include happy hour drinks. Raffle and auction prizes include a vapor kit and vapor liquids from the Lucky Deuces Vapor Company, a gift certificate from Palmilla Restaurant, a cymbal autographed by drummer Byron McMackin of Pennywise and a photograph from the Bo Bridges Gallery.

Beach clean up

This Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Heal the Bay is partnering with Ontario-based general contracting organization Bergman KPRS for “El Porto Beach Clean Up,” which will take place at the end of 45th Street in Manhattan Beach. The public is invited.
