MB tops luxury housing market

According to market research firm DataQuick, Manhattan Beach recorded 439 million-plus home sales in 2013, topping out all other cities in California.
The spike in sales is part of a larger trend across the state, which sold 39,175 homes costing $1 million or more in total this year, a 45-percent jump in million-plus home sales. It barely trails the pre-recession era of 2007, when the state recorded 42,506 such sales.
Hillsborough in San Mateo County lost the title to Manhattan Beach by just three sales.
MBUSD upcoming concerts
The school district is holding a series of concerts in the Mira Costa High School auditorium to showcase the musical talents of students district wide, from elementary to high school:
On Thursday at 6:30 p.m., the MBUSD All-District Orchestra Concert will bring together orchestra students from elementary, MBMS and Mira Costa where each individual group performs one piece. Then the band students district-wide will showcase their talent next Tuesday, followed by the annual “Build A Bridge Concert” next Thursday with performances by elementary, middle school and high school choirs.
Pizza with the Police
The Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach Police Departments are partnering to present the inaugural “Pizza with the Police” event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Modeled after “Coffee with a Cop,” officers from Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach will be on hand to meet with residents and answer any questions or address concerns.
Round Table Pizza, the host site for this new community-based program, is offering participants a free slice of pizza and a free soda during the walk-in event.
There will be representatives from various divisions, including motor officers, detectives, patrol officers and school resource officers. (motor officers), Investigations (Detective), Patrol (Officer) and School Resource Officer will be available for one-on-one interaction.
