bathroom creeperTorrance police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who peeked at a woman while she used the restroom in a Torrance Rite Aid last month.

On Feb. 24 at about 8:45 p.m., an 18-year-old woman walked into a restroom stall in the convenience store at 3860 Sepulveda Boulevard. About 15 seconds later she heard the restroom door open and close, then footsteps.

When she leaned down to look under the stall door, she saw a man about to get down on his hands and knees to look under the stall. They made eye contact, and he ran out of the store, according to police.

The man was seen getting into a grey Honda or Toyota and fleeing the Rite Aid parking lot toward Hawthorne Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, about six feet tall and 230 pounds. He has short hair and was wearing a black jacket, grey t-shirt, black pants and black tennis shoes.

The woman had noticed the man standing near the restroom when she walked into the store and smiled at him when she passed, according to police.

Torrance Sgt. Robert Watt said investigators haven’t found any similar occurrences in Torrance or surrounding cities. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working with other city police departments, Watt said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Torrance detective Lucas Ryono at 310-618-5585.
