The Kettle is the perennial winner in this category, a local institution that has been the favorite of night owls since 1973. Their appeal is more than just reliably good meals.– You get a warm welcome and comfortable environment at a time of night when your other options are fast food chains and raucous nightspots. Any hour of day or night, 364 days a year (the staff gets Christmas off), someone is ready with a smile, fresh coffee, and a very good meal. — RF
