Football: The Redondo Beach Youth Football and Cheer will be holding walk up registration for football and cheer on Sunday, April 27 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Perry Park, 2301 Grant Ave in Redondo Beach. Early bird fees for football are $300 (regularly $325) and will be in effect until April 30. Final registration is June 1.

 

Running: Team In Training (TNT) will be holding a meeting for prospective runners at Road Runner Sports, 25359 Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance, on Wednesday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. Founded in 1988, TNT has had more than 600,000 participants who have helped raise almost $1 billion for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The program offers certified coaches who provide weekly training schedule and workouts with teammates, clinics on nutrition, hydration and injury prevention and a mentor to help with fundraising strategies. Golf: El Camino College will be hosting the 27th Annual Warriors Athletics Golf Classic on Friday, May 9 at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. The four-person scramble tournament begins at 1 p.m. and is followed by an awards dinner. The event features contest such as Hole In One, Closest to the Pin, Circle of Opportunity, Men/Women Long Drive, Putting along with prizes and raffles. Entry fee of $150 includes: Green fees, cart, mulligan package, tee package, all contests, dinner and five raffle tickets. Sponsorships are available. Proceeds benefit athletic support services, tutoring, equipment, supplies, facility improvements and staff development. Registration deadline is April 30. Volleyball: The California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) is hosting Men’s and Women’s A tournaments on Saturday, April 19 at the Hermosa Beach Pier. Cost is $45 per team. On Saturday, April 26 at the Manhattan Beach Pier, competition in Men’s Open and B and Women’s Open and AA divisions take place. Cost is $45 per team ($65 for Open division). Triathlon: Registration is ongoing for the 10th annual Redondo Beach Triathlon sponsored by California Health Plans. The event begins at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, June 8 at the Veteran’s Park/Pier area in Redondo Beach. All of the proceeds go to Cheer for Children, a non-profit organization that gives seasonal parties and raises money for acutely ill children at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. The USAT sanctioned scenic course event consists of a 1/2-mile swim, 6-mile bike, and 2-mile run. Space is limited to the first 600 entries. A non-competitive mini-sprint (half the distances) is also available. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division and the top two relay teams. Sprint fees are $75 (ages 13-19 and 65 and older), $85 (ages 20-64), $115 (relay). Mini-sprint fees are $65 and $95 for the relay. Add $5 after May 31. Basketball: Registration is open for the 42nd Annual Peninsula Basketball Camp to be held at Palos Verdes High School from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. (full day) and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (half day) on July 21-25, July 28-Aug. 1 and Aug. 4-8. The first and last sessions are for boys and girls ages 5-14; the second session is for boys only. Cost is $240 for full day camp; $125 for half day. Girls ages 8-14 can learn the fundamentals of basketball while improving their skill level at the ProSkills Basketball Clinic held every Sunday from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Spectrum Athletic Club, 2250 Park Place in El Segundo. The head coach is former Mira Costa and UC Fullerton standout Megan Richardson who led the Mustangs to CIF and State finals and was a four-time All-Big West player and the third highest scorer in UC Fullerton history. Cost is $240 for full day camp; $125 for half day. Camp includes a guest alumni speaker from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Soccer: Registration is open for boys and girls ages 5-14 to attend the 37th Annual Peninsula Soccer Camp at Palos Verdes High School from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. (full day) and 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (half day) on July 21-25 and Aug. 4-8. Cost is $240 for full day camp; $125 for half day. Camp includes guest speakers, experienced coaching staff and each camper receives a soccer ball.
