Fight to the finish
The Museum of Latin American Art is kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with live Mexican lucha libre (fighters in the ring, with great theatricality), the matches starting at 8:30 p.m. but with a photographic exhibition from the Fundacion Televisa that is a documentary and artistic journey through the world of lucha libre mexicana. A twist of fate
A labor of love from filmmaker and Marymount University professor Bruce Schwartz, “Lives Interrupted: The Takuma Ito and Go Matsuura Story” tells the tale of two Japanese boys who were attending Marymount College in 1994 and were slain by a San Pedro gang member (now on death row). It’s screening tonight (Saturday) at 8 p.m. on PBS.
It wasn’t easy for them
“In Memoriam – Remembering Japanese-American History with The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum and the Gardena Valley Japanese Institute” honors the struggles that brought the early Nikkei settlers to California.
