The Riviera Village Summer Festival: This annual event occupies three stages, and takes place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Riviera Village in South Redondo Beach. Free shuttles if you park at South or West High Schools. Music, food, drink, carnival rides, plus an arts & crafts festival with 200-plus booths. Live performances by Tiki McPherson, Brookelyn, Intensity Rocks, The Shakeh, Brian Asher, the Dwain Roque Trio, Mecanica, Dance 1 Studio, Dance Forever, Jennifer Sombrotto, the Colorblind Band, and the Low Key Band. “The Difficulty of Crossing a Field”: David Lang’s Opera/play/musical, with a libretto by Mac Wellman, is reprised by Long Beach Opera in the Terrace Theater, 300 E.
