Redondo survived un-chartered waters Saturday holding off a determined Dana Hills team to advance to the CIF Southern Section/Ford Division 1-AA semifinals on Tuesday when the top-ranked Sea Hawks will host fifth-seeded Corona del Mar at 7 p.m.

After breezing to 25-13, 25-17 wins in the first two sets at Dana Hills, Redondo dropped the next two 12-15, 21-25 and found itself in a position to be upset and an early end to a record-setting year. But the Sea Hawks proved they could handle the pressure, fighting back from a match point situation before Skye Compton recorded a kill and Hannah Mosebar sealed the victory with a block for an 18-16 win.

Skylar Dykstra led Redondo with 27 kills and added 12 digs. Brianna Lanktree recorded 13 kills, five blocks and two digs, Compton had nine kills, Norene Iosia had 52 assists, Katie Rotondo added 25 digs and Leilani Martinez had 17 digs.

Redondo (34-3) defeated Corona del Mar 25-28, 25-16 during the Durango Fall Classic on Sept. 15. The winner of Tuesday’s semifinal match will face the winner between No. 2 Marymount (31-5) and Tesoro (28-5) in the championship match Saturday at 8 p.m. at Santiago Canyon College.

In Division 1-A, Bishop Montgomery (22-13) eliminated Canyon of Anaheim in four sets and will host No. 2 La Salle (32-2) in the semifinals Tuesday. The winner will play the victor between El Dorado (19-5), which upset top-seeded St. Lucy’s Saturday, and No. 5 Capistrano Valley for the championship.

In Division 2-AA, top-seeded North Torrance (24-6) was upset by M.L. King of Riverside in three games while second-seeded South Torrance (25-10) survived a five-set match against Santiago and will host No. 6 Los Osos (23-11) in the semifinals.

In Division 2-A, second-seeded Chadwick (27-2) advanced to the semifinals with a sweep over Arcadia. The Dolphins will host Poly/Pasadena (16-8) on Tuesday.
