El Segundo development firm CenterCal has “settled in on the major components” of its plan for the total redesign of the Redondo Beach waterfront, CEO Fred Bruning has said.

The design includes a two-lane road connecting Torrance Blvd. to Harbor Dr., a feature that has attracted criticism from some Redondo Beach residents.

“Our goal is to make the project work best for the great majority of those who will be using our site, and a solution that improves circulation and traffic for all,” Bruning said.

Other elements of the design are walkways, bike paths, a boutique hotel, a marketplace hall, a high-end movie theater, and a reconfiguration of Seaside Lagoon.
