Redondo Beach Police News October 22 – 28, 2012 – Bar brawl, home burglary, screwdriver battle, pumpkin fight

Pumpkin ruckus

At 4:30 p.m. on October 22 on the 300 block of Avenue D, several homeless individuals began to argue in the patio area of the Church. According to the police, the individuals were carving pumpkins. A police report states that one of the subjects took offense to an intoxicated subject acting disorderly, and yelling and a physical fight ensued. The disorderly subject sustained a small cut between his fingers consistent with a defensive type stab wound. The wounded subject was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The knife wielding subject was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Screwdriver battle

Around 4:50 on October 22 officers responded to a report of a family fight on the 2900 block of Blaisdell Avenue involving on member who was armed with a screwdriver. According to police, officers detained the involved parties and determined the suspect cut the victim’s arm with the tool-box weapon. The suspect was arrested for domestic violence.

Residential burglary

At 3 p.m. on October 23 on the 2000 block of Vanderbilt Lane residents returned home and discovered someone had pried open their front door. According to police, the house was ransacked and property was removed including a computer and jewelry.

Strong arm robbery

At about 4:30 p.m. on the 100 block of west Torrance Boulevard on October 23, a victim in a public restroom at the pier was confronted by three suspects. According to Redondo Beach police, two suspects punched the victim’s head and face, while the third suspect acted as a lookout. The suspects restrained the victim and removed two cell phones from the victim’s pockets. The victim sustained minor injuries to face and mouth. The suspects fled the area and were not found.

Bar brawl

On October 28 around 11 p.m. on the 2300 block of Artesia Boulevard, the victim was inside of a sports bar playing pool with friends when three unknown suspects verbally taunted them and one victim left the bar. According to the police, the three suspects confronted the victim on the sidewalk. One suspect then hit the victim in the face using a fist and the victim fell to the ground. The other two suspects hit and kicked the victim in the head and face. The suspects fled on foot before officers arrived. They were not found.
