Redondo Beach Police Beat

Strong-arm robbery/resisting arrest/narcotics possession

On March 1, at 10 p.m., a suspect was seen concealing merchandise from inside a business on the 1600 block of Kingsdale Ave. and exiting without paying for the items. Loss prevention attempted to detain the suspect, who physically assaulted the security guard and fled the location. The suspect then entered a nearby business. Redondo Beach Police arrived on scene and located the suspect, who was uncooperative and physically resisted officers’ attempts to place her under arrest. The suspect was also found to be in possession of narcotics.

Battery/Battery on an officer/resisting arrest

A woman was walking home, near the intersection of Avenue C and Prospect Ave. at 7:28 on March 1, when a male suspect approached her and without saying a word, punched her in the face, knocking her over. The suspect then walked away. The victim called her husband, who arrived on the scene. After police were called, the victim and her husband checked the area for the suspect and spotted him walking near Prospect Ave and Palos Verdes Blvd. The victim’s husband confronted the suspect and a physical altercation ensued, after which the suspect fled on foot. As officers interviewed the victim, the suspect walked out from the side yard of a nearby residence. The suspect approached an officer and threw a punch, hitting the officer in the face.

The suspect then tried to flee but was quickly caught. While in custody in the jail, the suspect continued to be uncooperative and physically resistive.
