Chalk Art Challenge in King Harbor

On Saturday, April 21, King Harbor Association will host the Eighth Annual Chalk Art Challenge at the Redondo Sea Wall, north of the International Boardwalk.

Participants of all levels are invited to create a chalk art drawing to commemorate Earth Day. The first 100 children to sign up on the day of the event will receive free non-toxic chalk and a recycled and a reusable canvas tote bag that they can paint at the event.

The Sea Lab mobile touch tank and Waterfront Education will be on site for visitors to learn about local sea life and waterfront activities.

The event is free and open to the public. The Chalk Art Challenge will take place at 181 N. Harbor Dr., between Samba Brazilian Grill and the Sportfishing Pier. For more information, go to visitkingharbor.com/events.

Redondo celebrates its 126th birthday with ice cream, classic cars

On Saturday, April 28, the City of Redondo Beach will celebrate the City’s incorporation date and commemorate its 126th birthday of April 29, 1892 with classic cars and ice cream.

The party runs from 1 to 4 p.m., with activities at Heritage Court in Dominguez Park, 302 Flagler Lane. The Queen Anne House Historical Museum and the Morrell House Museum, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., respectively.

Both the Historical Museum and the Morrell House will feature displays, artifacts and exhibits.  Vintage automobiles, an ice cream social and a variety of refreshments will be on hand. Donations benefit and support the Historical Museum at Heritage Court.

Art Exhibit at the Redondo Beach Library

The Redondo Beach Art Group will feature the work of local artists, and their interpretations of the California coastal lifestyle on Saturday, April 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Public Library, 303 N. Pacific Coast Hwy.

Refreshments, music, poetry will be available for attendees, and a “Hands on Art” workshop will take place from noon to 3 p.m.
