Several dozen local comic lovers and artists convened at The Comic Bug on Saturday and Sunday to take on a lofty challenge: to complete a 24-page comic book in 24 hours. Officially known as the 24-hour Comics Day, the event is held worldwide and annually challenges thousands of artists. This is the seventh year that the Manhattan Beach comic shop has hosted the gathering, which kicked off Saturday noon and concluded Sunday noon. “I’m trying to become a comic book artist so this is helping me crank work out,” said Rico Gloria, a Carson resident. “If I’m in my room I can’t focus.”
