Manhattan Beach resident appointed as LA County Superior Court judge

California Gov. Jerry Brown announced Thursday that Manhattan Beach resident Lori R. Behar has been appointed as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge.

Behar, 59, is one of 11 newly appointed judges at the LA County Superior Court announced Thursday. She is replacing Judge Marjorie S. Steinberg, who is retiring.

Behar, a Democrat, has served as a court commissioner for the LA County Superior Court since 2006.

From 1977 to 2006, she has served as partner, associate and law clerk for Haight Brown and Bonesteel LLP in Los Angeles. Behar earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA.
