Manhattan Beach police news: more stolen packages, thefts from unlocked cars
Stolen mail & packages
In early February, a resident in the 1800 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard placed four checks in his or her mailbox. Two of the checks were later recovered in a parking lot in El Segundo. The other two checks had been altered and cashed.
On Feb. 22, a delivery package containing a pedometer was stolen from a residential doorstep in the 700 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard. The empty package was discovered a few blocks away. A few days later, a priority mail package was stolen from a residential doorstep on the 1100 block of Highview Avenue, and the empty package was discovered by a resident.
Stolen items from unlocked cars
On Feb. 12 at approximately 4 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered a car parked on the 1800 block of 23rd Street and stole a watch and change. Police reported no signs of forced entry. Later that night, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway on the 1300 block of 5th Street and stole an iPod, three credit cards and cash.
Overnight on Feb. 15, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway on the 200 block of Larsson Street and stole a backpack containing an iPad.
Overnight on Monday, unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked car parked in a carport on the 300 block of 9th Place and stole a GPS unit, sunglasses and cash.
Broken entry
Between last Friday and Sunday, unknown suspect(s) smashed the rear passenger side door window of a car parked in the 1900 block of North Highland Avenue and stole a backpack.
Residential burglaries
Unknown suspect(s) on Friday evening pried open a window and entered a home in the 1600 block of 2nd Street. They reportedly rummaged through the drawers and stole jewelry.
Between Friday and Saturday, unknown suspect(s) pried open the kitchen window of a home in the 1600 block of 8th Street. The rooms were discovered ransacked. Approximately $8,000 and several items, including jewelry and awards, were reportedly missing.
Sometime during Sunday, unknown suspect(s) pried open the backdoor of a home in the 1800 block of Pacific Avenue and stole gift cards, a MacBook in addition to an Apple monitor, keyboard and mouse.
