Manhattan Beach police early Tuesday morning arrested a transient man who allegedly committed multiple vehicle-related thefts throughout various residential areas in the city.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to a call that a man was attempting to open doors of cars parked in private driveways on the 1100 Block of 18th Street. Officers found the suspect, Keith Wittington, 22, of Colinswood, N.J., hiding behind a business in the 1700 Block of North Sepulveda Boulevard.

Wittington, who was found with approximately $657 and a stolen GPS unit, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, vehicle tampering and petty theft.

Earlier in the morning, officers responded to six calls of vehicle-related thefts in the area of 3600 Block of Laurel Avenue. Police believe the incidents to be connected to Wittington.

During his interview with detectives, he admitted to committing approximately 10 thefts from vehicles Tuesday morning, police said. Wittington also admitted to committing similar thefts in El Segundo, Hawthorne and Torrance in the last three to four months, police said.
