Manhattan Beach About town: Bus for Boobies, Bike Plan Workshops, 405 Closure

Bus for Boobies: A joint fundraiser for breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease will be held on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The third annual “Bus for Boobies” fundraiser will include a bus ride that will shuttle participants from Grunions Sports Bar and Grill in Manhattan Beach to Hooters and Legends bars in Long Beach, and back to Manhattan Beach. “All-you-can-drink” beer and $2 Jell-o shots will be available on the bus.
Check-in is at 10:30 a.m. at Grunions, 1501 Sepulveda Blvd., and the bus will leave at 11 a.m. The cost of the event is $60 and proceeds will be divided equally among both causes. Bike plan workshops: The South Bay Bicycle Coalition will release the first draft of its South Bay Master Bike Plan in Manhattan Beach during its second round of public workshops, to be held on June 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Joslyn Community Center, 1601 N. Valley Dr. in Manhattan Beach.
Residents will have their final opportunity to offer public input before the plan is presented to the Manhattan Beach City Council this fall.
405 Closure: The I-405 freeway will be closed for 53 hours next month. From 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15 until 5 a.m. on Monday, July 18, northbound lanes between the I-10 and 101 freeways and southbound between the 101 and Getty Center Dr. will be closed during the demolition and reconstruction of the Mulholland Bridge by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The construction work is part of a project that will widen the I-405 and add a northbound car pool lane. The bridge will be demolished one half at a time with the second demolition occurring one year later.
