Jimmy Buffett, legendary paradise crooner and Parrotthead leader, is performing a free show tomorrow at 6 p.m. as part of Hermosa Beach Summer Concerts and Discovery Channel’s Fin Fest, city sources have confirmed.
Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach and iRocke digital music platform joined into a partnership with the Discovery Channel in April to preserve the tradition of the Hermosa Beach free summer concerts. The sponsorship agreement allowed the Discovery Channel to kick off their 27-years strong Shark Week with Fin Fest, a two-day celebration on August 8 and 9 at the Hermosa Pier.
On Friday afternoon, Saint Rocke and Hermosa Beach Summer Concert producer and promoter Katie Henley announced via Facebook that Buffett was coming to Hermosa.
“Yes, Hermosa Beach, California the rumors are TRUE,” Henley posed. “Saint Rocke got you Jimmy Buffet. Tomorrow! SATURDAY 6PM.”
The iRocke site added Jimmy Buffet to the Fin Fest line up, as well.
Parottheads may descend on the beach cities in droves but Sergeant Kevin Averill said the Hermosa Beach Police Department is not anticipating a problem
“It’s an older crowd,” he said.
According to Averill, there is a contingency plan in case of crowd issues but a command post is not planned.
