Sandi Tsosie’s technology class at Hermosa Valley School will be watching Space X Falcon 9 satellite launch with special interest. On Tuesday approximately 30 of Tsosie’s students toured the Space X facility in Hawthorne.

The launch had been scheduled for Friday afternoon, but has been rescheduled for Saturday.

The tour was arranged by Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce executive board member Janice Webb. In April at a conference hosted by the Manhattan Beach Chamber of Commerce, Webb heard Space X president Gwynne Shotwell talk about the need to encourage young people to become engineers. Webb followed up with an email to Shotwell, asking her for the opportunity to bring Tsosie’ class to visit Space X.

Shotwell arranged the tour just in time to brief the students on Space X’s launch at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.
