Coffee with a cop
The Hermosa Beach Police Department will host “Coffee with a Cop” this Thursday evening.
Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity for residents to have informal discussions about local concerns with the officers. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the City Council Chambers.
Puppeteer needs medical aidRic Morton has spent more than 40 years entertaining kids and adults with puppets and impersonations. In recent years the former “Easy Reader” graphic artist toured South Bay elementary schools and libraries as Professor Weisenheimer, the scientific genius behind the Silly Science educational performances. He also tours West Coast county fairs with his Wonderworld Puppets. During the holiday season, he is “The Real Bearded” Santa. Morton learned his craft from the legendary Jim Henson in 1974. For many years he and his puppet Froggy performed at “Easy Reader’s” annual Mama Liz Thanksgiving Dinner.

Lifeguard position
filing period open
The Los Angeles County Lifeguards are now accepting applications for positions that start at $24.67/hour. The filing period for applications ends Friday, August 4. Practice swims will be held Saturday, August 26 and Saturday, September 23 at Dockweiler Beach. Applicants must be 18 by April 1, 2018.
