Hermosa Beach About Town

PLAN Hermosa meeting

The Hermosa Beach City Council will hold a follow-up hearing on PLAN Hermosa, its updates to its General Plan and Local Coastal Program, next Monday evening in City Council Chambers.

The 6 p.m. meeting is one of several study sessions the council has held on the plan in recent months and follows a public hearing on the plan that took place Tuesday night as part of the City’s regularly scheduled meeting.

Skechers project information

Residents with questions about a development proposal from shoe manufacturer Skechers for Pacific Coast Highway are encouraged to attend a Planning Commission meeting next Tuesday evening.

Skechers has proposed several buildings, including a showroom and executive offices, occupying much of the west side of Pacific Coast Highway for several blocks near the northern border with Manhattan Beach. Although the project also contains units in Manhattan, Hermosa’s Community Development Department is overseeing the project because more of its land area is located in Hermosa.

The 7 p.m. meeting in City Council Chambers will feature information about the project and its Draft Environmental Impact Report, the public comment period for which ends Aug. 15.

Reception for City Manager

The city will host a community reception for recently hired City Manager Sergio Gonzales next Thursday evening. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clark Building at 861 Valley Drive. The event is free, and light appetizers will be available.
Gonzales began work on May 15, replacing interim City Manager John Jalili, who filled in after former City Manager Tom Bakaly retired last fall.
