Hermosa Beach Police Beat

Tree trimmers packing heat

Two errant tree trimmers were arrested earlier this month after allegedly being found in possession of drugs and a stolen gun.

The suspects had been hired to trim palm trees, but on June 4 about 2:30 p.m., they inadvertently arrived at the the 1200 block of Hermosa Avenue, a different location from the one they had been hired to service, according to police reports. The trees in question belonged to the city, and police officers arrived shortly after the suspects had almost completely cut the trees down.

Officers made contact with the suspects, and found them to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun that was later discovered to be stolen, police said. Officers arrested the suspects and booked them on suspicion of vandalism and other charges.
