Hermosa Beach launches online crime reporting system

Hermosa Beach residents can now report crimes online at the city’s website.

The Hermosa Beach Police Department announced the launch of a new online crime reporting system on Monday. Residents are encouraged to use the online form to report non -emergency incidents, such as home and auto thefts, identity theft, hit and run, lost property, vandalism, harassing phone calls and court order violations.

Residents should still call 991 for emergencies and incidents that occur on a state freeway or have an identifiable suspect.

Once the report is complete, the resident who filed it will receive notification from the police department.

“We hope that it encourages more people to report issues that occur in the community that they previously may not have due to the time restraints of reporting it in person,” Chief Sharon Papa said. “Additionally, it allows our police officers to quickly and spend more time in the community by cutting back on administrative paperwork.”

The form can be found at hermosabch.org by selecting the Police Department tab and then clicking Crime Reports On-line.
