Hermosa Beach, Galaxy host world class, World Cup soccer party
For the second time this month, sports fans filled Pier Plaza in downtown Hermosa Beach for a traditionally, non beach sport. Two weeks ago fans descended on Pier Plaza to cheer the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings as they paraded down The Strand.
Thursday morning, an estmated 4,000 fans wearing red, white and blue turned out for the World Cup Soccer match featuring the U.S and Germany.
The Los Angeles Galaxy sponsored a jumbo screen at the pierhead for the outdoor viewers, while neighboring restaurants and bars opened early for their soccer fan.
Though the U.S. lost 1-0, Portugal’s victory over Ghana enables the U.S. to advance to the round of 16. ER
