Electric Vehicle event
Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi will be at Hermosa Beach City Hall at 1315 Valley Drive on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. for an event to reach out to the electric vehicle community for support of legislation encouraging EV use.
Water saving competition
Hermosa Beach is again in the running for the third Wyland Foundation Mayor’s challenge for Water Conservation. Last year Laguna Beach won the challenge, just barely beating the Hermosa Beach. The program encourages residents in all 50 states to conserve water, save energy and reduce pollution. Hermosa Beach is currently in the lead. Visit www.mywaterpledge.com to learn more
HB Library ‘barrows o’ books
The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library is holding a special spring book sale on April 20 with wheelbarrows of books, VHS tapes and DVDs, from 9 a.m. – noon. Prices are still unbeatable: 50 cents for paperbacks, $1 for most hard covers and $2 for more recent titles and DVDs. Such deal! And there’s always a free cart outside and no tellin’ what you might find in it, just west of Hermosa Beach Library.
Vampires
The Hermosa Beach Blood Drive will be held at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital on April 21 from noon – 6 p.m. at the Clark Building at 861 Valley Drive. All blood donors will receive a Lifesaver Band designed by Insaecula, coupons to In-N-Out as well as two tickets to The Comedy and Magic Club as well as a free dessert from Fritto Misto Italian Café. Walk Together Week
The Blue Zones Project is challenging restaurants, schools and businesses to encourage their employees to be more active during the week of April 22 – 28.
