For the youngster looking to head to the White House one day or create more sustainable energy sources, Hermosa Beach has a summer camp.

Camp “How do I want Hermosa Beach to look 15 years from now?” teaches kids everything from city planning to how to create a solar power grid in Hermosa Beach. Speakers at the week-long camp will include city manager Tom Bakaly and members of the Hermosa Beach Historical Society.

Gila Katz, a rabbi and executive director of Kleine Chaplaincy Service, said she started the camp to get kids involved in their community.

“We want to mentor them and channel those creative energies,” Katz said.
