Head of Manhattan Beach’s Parks & Rec to retire

After serving the city for more than 14 years, Richard Gill, the director of Manhattan Beach’s Parks and Recreation Department, announced Monday that he will retire from his post effective May 10.
“I would like to thank all the city councilmembers, commissions, city staff and the community I have worked with and served for more than 14 years in the city of Manhattan Beach,” Gill, 58, said in a statement. “It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve in such a great community.”
City Manager Dave Carmany noted that the city staff is grateful for Gill’s guidance of the Parks and Recreation Commission in times of changing community needs and priorities.
“Richard Gill has been an esteemed member of the city staff for many years… We wish Richard the very best in retirement,” Carmany said.
