The Fourth Annual Parking Permit Contest design has been picked and resident Brittan Durham’s design has been announced as the 2014 winner.

His design shows three dolphins catching a wave alongside a surfer and will be featured on this year’s city-issued parking permits.

“The parking permit contest is a great opportunity to showcase the talents of our residents,” said Mayor Michael DiVirgilio in a press release. “We congratulate Mr. Durham for creating the winning design and look forward to seeing his artwork in vehicles throughout town for the next year.”

The city received 14 submissions from local residents, and city manager Tom Bakaly selected the winner.

“I entered the contest to be more involved in the community, and I hope my painting will inspire Hermosa Beach residents to participate in keeping our city clean, healthy and vibrant,” said Durham. “I would like to thank my girlfriend Esperanza Arato and my friend Ocean Summer for painting and technical support for this project. Most of all, I wish to thank the City of Hermosa Beach for allowing citizens to participate in community events such as the art competition.”

The parking permits will be going on sale Feb. 3 and cost $40 for residents and $143 for employees of local businesses. They are valid from March 1 until Feb 28 each year. Visit www.hermosabch.org to learn more. ER
