It is almost Holiday Season and Santa has a brand new sleigh in Manhattan Beach this year, thanks to the Leadership Manhattan Beach Class of 2017 which made preservation of this local tradition its project.

Santa and the Elves will be starting early, with the first route beginning on the evening of Monday, November 27, 2017. The neighborhood routes generally start at 4:45 pm, but check the times at the link below as there are some variations. The sleigh will tour a different neighborhood for fifteen nights (excluding weekends), ending December 15, 2017.

The Elves also worked with the Manhattan Beach Unified School District to equalize the routes, based on the district’s neighborhood data (thanks MBUSD!). The result is that some routes have been slightly adjusted, and an additional night has been added. Santa should be able to complete each nightly route before the kiddies go to bed, so get those lists ready!

The Manhattan Beach Santa Float is led by the Kiwanis Club of Manhattan Beach, and is staffed each night by a different community organization. There is no charge to visit the Santa Float on its nightly routes. The calendar, staffing organizations, dates and a hi-resolution expandable map of the routes can be seen here: www.manhattanbeachsantafloat.com/routes/

You can see where the float is in real time by viewing the LIVE SANTA TRACKER at www.manhattanbeachsantafloat.com/santa-tracker/

This year, many more thanks are in order, including to Paul Curry and the Manhattan Beach Police Department Volunteer Police Auxiliary for his planning leadership, to all the community members who gave so generously to the float renovation project, to Kinecta Federal Credit Union which provides the truck and driver that pulls the sleigh, and to the many local organizations who staff the float on its routes!!!
