MUSIC IN THE GARDEN!

SOUTH COAST BOTANIC GARDEN BRINGS LIVE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES AND SOUND TREKS TO THE GARDEN

For the first time, the South Coast Botanic Garden, Los Angeles County’s premier destination for unique horticultural and wildlife habitat experiences, is hosting a series of events to celebrate the holiday season and New Year. There will be live performances featuring unique musicians and DJs, musical garden walks and an interactive Sound Maker Station for a hands-on music experience. This special event runs from now through January 2018.
December’s Sounds of the Season fills the 87-acre garden – home to rolling hills, tranquil meadows, natural hiking paths, scenic vistas and thousands of species of plants – with live and recorded music at various locations celebrating the joys of the holiday season, nature and meditation. In January, the music changes with the New Year to Rock the Garden, when popular tunes fill the fresh air.
During the two-month festival, music will be played each day on speakers hidden within the Garden on a selection of hiking trails renamed Sound Treks. The Garden will also feature a hands-on “Sound Maker Station,” encouraging visitors to create their own sounds of the season by playing wind chimes, percussion instruments and more.
“We are excited about our brand new guest offerings celebrating the beautiful rhythms of nature and music,” said Adrienne Nakashima, CEO, South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation. “Through Sounds of the Season and Rock the Garden, we are offering a new kind of nature experience by putting a bit of groove in the steps of our visitors. The result is a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience.”
Live music performances will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on:
Sunday, Dec. 17 – Kula A’o ‘Ukulele ‘O Hoku and Kahakai Loa, Ukulele and island sounds in the Amphitheater
