Global Water Dances – Long Beach
A Dance Concert at the Beach on June 24th 2017

Global Water Dances (GWD) is a visionary worldwide event of simultaneous outdoor performances illuminating water issues, inspiring and empowering citizens to take action since 2011. This year, more than 90 cities dance on one single day to raise awareness about local and global water crisis. These performances are open to the public and free of charge, and are shared by live streaming and video uploads on the website www.globalwaterdances.org.

Global Water Dances – Long Beach will participate with the global organization through creation of a Long Beach dance festival focused on taking care of our beaches and empowering the local community. The intent of this event is to inspire community members with environmental knowledge and activation of public spaces through dance. Both dancers and audience members will participate and have fun while taking care of our precious resource- water.

The performance will showcase local dance groups with the musical accompaniment of SangomaBeat. The local dance groups include: VIDA – Vannia Ibarguen Dance Arts; Dance4Oceans; H2O Dance Company; and others, including the members of the Long Beach Community and audience members. Additionally, local environmental organizations, such as Algalita and 5 Gyres Institute, will be attending with table displays and short presentations about water preservation and ocean pollution. Global Water Dances – Long Beach strives to unite the Long Beach Community for this fun, inclusive, informative global movement.
