The 2018 Show

As in years past, the 2018 Los Angeles International Pen Show will be held in Manhattan Beach, CA, on President’s Day weekend 2018 at the same hotel as in past years. However, the hotel will soon change its name as a result of the multi-million dollar renovation it is undergoing and be known as Westdrift Manhattan Beach.  Dealers and traders will be attending February 15-18, and the show will be open to the public from 10AM-5PM on Sunday, February 18.

GENERAL AND TRADER ADMISSIONS MAY BE PURCHASED AT THE SHOW

IF YOU PRE-REGISTERED AS AN EXHIBITOR OR TRADER, A REGISTRATION PACKET WILL BE WAITING FOR YOU AT THE SHOW

Numerous vendors will again be selling inks, new fountain pens, ballpoint pens and other types of writing instruments.  Vintage writing instruments are also available for sale, and there will be a number of experts on hand that can restore vintage pens.  Have an old pen you would like to know more about?  Bring it in!

In recent years, our tables have sold out quickly and 2018 is likely to be no exception.  Make arrangements early by returning the brochure’s registration form along with your payment, if you want to be sure you have a table!  It is a requirement that you sign and return the form along with your payment for a table.

Because Monday, February 19 is the President’s Day holiday, you can extend your stay and see the sites of Los Angeles or simply avoid the Sunday airline fares and return home on Monday.  You might also extend your stay since the room rate in 2018 extends from February 11 through February 20 (subject to availability).

MEALS AT THE SHOW

For meals, show attendees have the option of grabbing a quick meal at the hotel, at the wonderful Lido di Manhattan Beach Restaurant and Bar, the Manhattan Beach Johnny Rockets, or at one of the other local nearby eateries.  The hotel, Lido di Manhattan Beach Restaurant, and Johnny Rockets are again offering discount coupons for meals during the Pen Show. The hotel is providing a discount of 10% off the price of any meal at their restaurant during your stay this year, and the Lido and Johnny Rockets are providing a 15% discount off the price of meals at their restaurant. (Note: alcohol is not included in any of the discount offers). Be sure to take advantage of this benefit by printing your coupons and presenting them when you pay your bill at any of these three wonderful restaurants.  To get the restaurant coupons, you can simply click the button above that reads “Restaurant Coupons” and it will open to a PDF file.  You can download and print as many copies as you need.

SEMINARS

Special features of the show include both seminars and rare pens for sale and exhibit.  In 2017, a variety of seminars were given by experts in a number of writing-related fields.  The seminars are again on Saturday, are approximately 50 minutes in length, and are held on an hourly basis starting in the morning.  You are welcome to attend the seminars with your paid admission to the Sunday show.  However, your paid admission to the Sunday show does not allow you to enter the pen trading showroom on any day, except Sunday starting at 10AM.  Attendance at any event other than the Sunday show and Saturday seminars requires your payment as either a “Trader” or “Exhibitor.” The seminar topics and the times will be listed on the web site as we near the date of the Show.

The Show may be reached by e-mail by clicking the Contact Us link in the upper left of the page. Saturday Seminars and Sunday General Admission is $8.00 for adults. Children under 12 will be admitted free when accompanied by a parent who pays one of the following:  (1) the Saturday Seminar and Sunday Show only “General Admission” fee, or (2) the “Trader” admission fee.  PLEASE NOTE:  Full details of Admission are in the brochure.  If you want to attend any part of The Show other than the Saturday seminars and the Sunday show, you must pay the “Trader fee”.  In making your decision, remember that numerous tables and people selling pens are already in place as early as Thursday afternoon. ***Both General Admission and Trader admission can be purchased at the show registration desk***.
