Beach Volleyball: The California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) will be holding tournaments in Manhattan Beach including Men’s B and Women’s AA, A competition on Saturday, July 22 followed by Men’s A and Men’s and Women’s Open tournaments on Sunday, July 23. The 19th annual BarryBob 4-person tournament takes place Saturday, July 29 at 9th Street and The Strand in Manhattan Beach. It’s hosted by former pro volleyball players Mike Walmer and Kevin Cleary in memory of their dads Barry and Bob, who were best friends for over three decades before passing away in the 1990s. Tennis: Players of various skill levels will help celebrate the Silver Anniversary of the Manhattan Beach Tennis Open when the four-day tournament is held July 20-23. The USTA sanctioned tournament is open to players age 16 and over and will be played at Live Oak Park and the Mira Costa High School tennis courts with the finals held at Manhattan Country Club. Cycling: The 56th Annual Chevron Manhattan Beach Grand Prix returns on Sunday, July 30 but with a new twist as the 1.3-mile course that starts and finishes at Live Park Park will be raced counter-clockwise instead of the usual clockwise direction. The eight-race event begins at 7 a.m. and includes a total cash purse of $21,500. The Chevron Kids’ Zone is expanded this year and the popular Kids’ Races take place at 12 p.m. prior to the men’s and women’s pro races. For more information and to register, visit mbgp.com.

Fitness: Beach Boot Camps with GI Joe are underway through September 1 to help students 18 years old and over lose weight, tone bodies, build endurance, and network with others in coed workouts at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Morning sessions are held Mon.-Wed.-Fri. from 6-7 a.m. and 9-10 a.m. Fee is $220 ($242 for non-resident). Basketball: Dave Miller, Emmy Award winning NBA analyst will be hosting his annual MVPCAMP.COM summer basketball camp at Aviation Sports Complex in Redondo Beach July 31-Aug.4. The camp runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14. The camp is geared for all levels of play and places an emphasis on fundamentals. Sailing: On the second Sunday of every month, Waterfront Education will be holding a Pink Power Sailing and BBQ for girls and women at South Bay Sailing, 181 N. Harbor Dr., Redondo Beach.
