State of the City: The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau will be hosting the annual Hermosa Beach State of the City Address by Mayor Michael DiVirgilio at the Beach House Hotel,  1300 The Strand, Hermosa Beach.  5:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. See

Cancer Support Community hosts Vivian Tsang, a clinical oncology pharmacist at Torrance Memorial Medical Center, 109 West Torrance Blvd.,  Redondo Beach. 12:30 to 2 p.m. Dr. Tsang will discuss Cancer Registry Statistics, currently available treatment options and the side effects associated with treatment. Fun for a cause: The Exceptional Kids Parent Teacher Organization 5th Annual Fun’draiser takes place at South Bay Customs, 115 Penn St, El Segundo.  7 p.m. Dinner, drinks, music, art, and a silent auction.  All monies raised will support the EKPTO’s mission of providing students with special needs with educational programs, classroom support, and social activities, including our annual Prom. Do you want to help?  The Manhattan Beach Community Emergency Response Team is looking for community volunteers to sign up for the next course. The class dates are three Saturdays, May 3,10 and 17 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. $60 for each participant, which defrays the cost of a backpack with emergency supplies, a CERT hard-hat/vest, a photo identification badge, manual, and graduation certificate.  To sign up or for more information or email
