In wee hours, burglars enter 2 Manhattan Beach residences through unlocked doors

The Manhattan Beach Police Department is urging residents to keep their doors locked after receiving two reports of early morning burglaries on Saturday.

The first incident occurred sometime between 2:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. in the 4400 Block of The Strand while the residents were asleep, according to police. A perpetrator entered through an unlocked sliding glass door and fled with an iPhone, wallet and car keys, according to police.

Between 5:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m., someone entered a residence in the 200 Block of Shell Street through an unlocked door and stole an iPhone, computer, keys and other personal item. Additionally, a purse was stolen from an unlocked car—one of two parked on the street that were entered during the night– according to police.

Both locations have been processed for evidence, and the crimes are under investigation, according to police.

MBPD Community Affairs Officer Stephanie Martin said the police have no information regarding the perpetrators; no evidence has indicated that these crimes are related. Anyone who saw a suspicious person or car during the reported incidents is advised to contact Martin at 310-802-5186.
