Beryl girls and dads get the star treatment

rb dance 1Last Saturday, 100 girls and their dads attended Beryl Heights Elementary School’s third annual father/daughter dance. The theme this year was  ‘Night of a Thousand Stars’ and the school spared no expense to turn the evening into an event fit for the rich and famous.

Beryl hired the company responsible for some of the entertainment industry’s biggest red carpets, including the Grammy awards, to transform the elementary school into a mini Hollywood.

“When the girls arrived with their dads, they each received matching corsages and boutonnieres and that was only the beginning,” said Lisa Greene, co-chair of the dance.

“Then just like at exclusive awards shows, they received celebrity and media credentials to wear around their necks, and were ushered down the school’s main corridor, which had been transformed into a Red Carpet arrivals area to rival some of Hollywood’s glitziest affairs.”

The girls were awestruck by wall-to-wall red carpet, professional spotlights, and a special platform where they were invited to do live, on-camera interviews. A “Mom-a-razzi Photo Pit” was filled with cheering moms snapping photos from the other side of the velvet rope.

Once inside, the girls and their fathers enjoyed a night of dancing and revelry. The dance, co-chaired by Greene and Janee Dahl, was a hit. Beryl Heights principal Karen Mohr was flooded with compliments from attendees.

“One dad came up to me and said, ‘This isn’t just a dance, it’s really an event,’” she said.
